Pregnancy is a time of fundamental importance during a woman’s life.

For this reason, M&D Pharmacy has developed the Repair line of cosmetic products, which is designed to fully satisfy all the skin’s requirements during this particular stage of life. In fact, in addition to meeting the skin’s needs during pregnancy, the Repair product line has also been specifically formulated to counteract all the states of stress to which the skin can be subjected during the individual’s lifetime, including climatic, environmental and work-related stresses, as well as changes in body weight and dietary imbalances, in order to:

These products help to improve the skin’s elasticity and hydration in order to minimize and prevent tissue damage, including stretch marks and scars.

The epidermis is the most superficial layer of the skin, which comes into contact with the external environment. It is made up of several layers, the most representative cells of which the are keratinocytes, which are generated, grow and eventually die over the course of an “upwards” transition from the base membrane toward the stratum corneum (via a mechanism known as cellular turnover). The stratum corneum is the outermost layer of keratinocytes in which the cells take on various morphological characteristics (flattened, anucleated cells free of metabolic activity), and are known as corneocytes. The stratum corneum is also made up of proteins and polar lipids like ceramides, cholesterol and free fatty acids, which have the important task of binding with water and maintaining it on the skin’s surface, thus ensuring a proper level of hydration (the so-called hydro-lipid film). In order to maintain the skin in good condition, therefore, it is necessary to:

1) HYDRATE: in order to maintain the proper level of surface hydration and tropism for the underlying tissues (the dermis).

2) NOURISH: in order to maintain the barrier function of the hydro-lipid film, which, thanks to the presence of cementing and cohesive lipids, helps to prevent the excessive loss of the skin’s water reserves via transpiration (TEWL, trans-epidermal water loss), which can lead to dryness and flaking.

3) REPAIR: after having re-established the skin’s proper balance, using extremely functional active ingredients designed to soothe and repair tissue damage.
